Northern Rail operates trains to North cumbria (carlisle) and to south cumbria (Barrow). The trains are regular and the ticket prices are not expensive.
The north Cumbria service runs from whitehaven-Parton-Harrington-Workington-Flimby-Maryport-Aspatria-Wigton-Dalston-Carlisle. The service is a nice route and goes right around the cumbrian coast next to the seaside and then onto the countryside as the train approaches Carlisle. Carlisle is cumbrias capital city and cumbrias only city as it is mainly built up of historical towns and villages.
